He was 51.

Brown of St. Louis; his son, Alexander of St. Louis; and his mother. FU FUNERAL NOTICES CES Robert R. Leavy, a retired Army lieutenant colonel and engineer, died Saturday (June 17, 2000) of congestive heart failure at Garden View of Chesterfield.
He was 91. Mr. Leavy graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla. He was one of the first Army officers in the U.S. sector in Berlin during World War II and was designated the engineer supply officer of the Berlin District headquarters for the occupation.
He organized the program that provided critically needed construction materials and equipment. He was awarded the Bronze Star and received the European Theater Ribbon with two bronze battle stars. Mr. Leavy worked as an engineer for General Motors, Chrysler and J.S. Alberici Co.
He was a 50-year member of Grace United Methodist Church and was instrumental in the centennial renovation of the church. Among his survivors are his wife of 65 years, Florence Leavy; a daughter, Linda Rose, and a son, Robert Leigh, both of Ladue; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kriegshauser West, 9450 Olive Boulevard. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m.

Professional Engineer, Saturday, June 17, 2000; beloved husband of Florence Leavy (nee Miravalle), for 65 wonderful years; loving father of Linda (Bill) Rose and Robert (Becky) Leigh; dear grandfather of Lynn and Robert Rose, Michael (Janet) and Adam Leigh. Mr.
Leavy was a graduate of U. of MO-Rolla where he received his Army commission. He was a key lock and dam design engineer for the Corps of Engineers on the Mississippi River. He was one of the first Army officers into the U.S. Sector in Berlin during WWII and was designated the Engineer Supply Officer of the Berlin District Headquarters for the occupation in the U.S.
Sector. He organized the program which provided critically needed construction materials and established a heavy equipment pool of Army level size. He provided for engineer supplies for the Big Three Conference at Potsdam, Germany in a way that resulted in a quick completion of all installations required by the Conference. His diligent devotion to duty and keen judgement resulted in the outstanding success of the tasks confronting him. For his duty to his country, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and European Theater Ribbon with two bronze battle stars.
He retired after many successful years as a professional engineer and after completing design work for the General Motors plant in Wentzville, Chrysler in Fenton and J.S. Albericci Company. Mr. Leavy was a dedicated 50 year member of Grace United Methodist Church and was instrumental in the centennial renovation of the church. Funeral service at Grace United Methodist Church, 6199 Waterman 10:00 a.m.
